- Make sure that you have a strong and secure internet connection. Ethernet is best.
- Make sure that your computer is fully charged, and that it can be charged easily from your location.
- Close unnecessary tabs and turn off notifications that may be distracting. Close as many background programs as possible.
- Choose a location that is comfortable and distraction and interruption-free.
- Headsets are essential to lessen outside noise and to ensure privacy.
- Ensure that you can use Zoom’s basic functions, such as screen sharing, muting/unmuting, view switching and chat.
- Optimize your settings (e.g., hide self-view).
- Ensure that you have a way to reach the mediator and other parties outside of Zoom in the event of technical problems.
- Sign into the mediation ten minutes before the start time. Test your microphone, preview your video and ensure that your Internet connection is strong.
